11/4/07  Away to Broadbury Park.

A warm spring evening and a pitch in poor condition greeted the Fry Club B Girls for this away re worked fixture against Broadbury Park, who currently occupied third in the league. A win over The Fry Club B girls this evening would put Broadbury Park second and back in touch with the Fry Club A Girls. With this being the run into the end of the season,  the Fry Club B Girls were under no illlusion that they would have their work cut out to come away with any points from this game.

The Fry Club Girls started well and the defending passing and movement was top drawer if a little deep in their own half.

As the half progressed Fry's pushed out and created a couple of half chances and matched Broadbury Park ball for ball! The half ended goalless at 0-0 and the game was evenly balanced.

The second half saw a substitution for the Fry Girls and Emily Dean made way for Steph. Emily had a great first half but had taken a knock thus the change. Broadbury Park started to impose their size and strength on the game and caught the Fry Club Girls napping to go ahead 1-0 after around 5 minutes into the second half.

The Fry Club Girls rallied thanks much in part to Danni and Alice who were tireless in the midfield, and never gave up trying to put the scores back level. However the physical nature of the game then employed by Broadbury Park saw both girls floored on several occasions with some rather dubious tackles. This rather intimidated and broke down the Fry Club Girls and Broadbury Park found the opening for their second goal to put the game at 2-0 in their favour.

Broadbury Park found the net for a third time only minutes later and at 3-0 looked to have sunk any chance of a comeback from the Fry Club B Girls. But the Fry Girls once again rallied and thanks to some brave running and movement from Alice and Steph, Danni snatched a consolation goal to make the score 3-1 to Broadbury Park.

In the dying minutes the Fry Club Girls conceded a penalty for a late but not malicious tackle and Broadbury Park duly scored to make the final score 4-1 in their favour.

Deciding the player of the Match for this game was a very difficult affair as both Alice and Danni had given their all in a very tough and physical game. So, for the first time this season the award was shared between them! Very well played girls.

A mention in dispatches for this game has to go to Emily Dean for a strong first half.
